Step 1
Remove toner cartridge and power plug along with your connectivity cable. (parallel or network)
Step 2
Remove the accessory cover located on the right side of the printer you will have to keep the toner cartridge cover open in order to do this, start by pressing on the interlock and sliding the cover forward or toward you while standing in front of the printer.
Step 3
You will notice the formatter board is exposed when the cover is off. Be sure not to damage any of the cables while working around this area.
Step 4
Now turn your hp 2100 or 2200 around so you are facing the rear of the printer, drop the rear exit cover and remove the 2 screws located on the upper left and right corners not the 2 screw in the middle, these hold the fuser divertor plate, you will notice that the exit assembly has two positions first position will only allow you to drop the exit door down so far, you will have to hold up the door limiter while you hinge the door down. (See picture)
Step 5
Start at the bottom of the rear cover and gently begin to dislodge the cover you may have to work it a little but do not force it, it is only plastic,
You will have to do the same with the top portion of the rear cover also.
Step 6
If you are planning to replace the fuser you can go to the fuser removal procedure for more disassembly information.
Step 7
While facing the rear of the printer remove the top right cover screw.
Step 8
While facing the rear of the printer remove the top left cover screw.
Step 9
Turn the printer back so you are facing the front of the printer, with the toner lid open remove the two front screws, these screw are located in the very front top corners of the printer.
Step 10
Identify the (drum drive) door hinge located in the picture you will need a flat blade screw driver.
Step 11
Gently pry and push the plastic lock out of the hinge, do not worry about the hinge falling inside the printer carcus, it can rest there until re assembly, then you will be able to gently remove it and re attach.
Step 12
On the same right side as the door hinge lock there will be a small clip that will need to be depressed as you remove the cover.
Step 13
On the left side of the printer there will also be a clip that will require you to depress with a flat blade screw driver when removing the cover.
Step 14
Gently lift the cover upwards as you do this you may have to release the left and right clips at the same time (steps 13 and 14) the cover will lift straight up.
Step 15
Now is a good time to account for your screws and plastics before continuing to more disassembly procedures.
