be sure to work on a surface that wont be harmed by ink
leaking or scratches.
|
|
|
| Step

Begin
by removing the ink cartridge cover, the ink cartridge cover
can be
removed by simply lifting upward until the plastic lid unclips
from the printer.
|
|
|
| Step

torx screw.
|
|
|
| Step

Now
remove the top left torx screw. |
|
|
|
|
| Step
8 |
Facing
the front of the printer begin by prying upward on the lower
part of the right side plastic,
there are small plastic interlocks that must be pressed
while lifting the side panel upwards.
|
|
|
| Step
9 |
Note:
The side panel will lift up and over like a hinge.
Look at step 12 for a better example or view.
Note:
Do not pull on cover until the wiring harness has been removed
step 13 for view.
|
|
|
| Step
10 |
Repeat
step 9 for the left side cover plate |
|
|
| Step

|
|
| Step

Picture
shows connector. |
|
|
| Step
14 |
Now
with both covers removed begin by positioning printer so
you will be able to access the left and right sides.
The
printer should look like what is in the picture before continuing
any further.
|
|
|
| Step
15 |
On
the right side of the printer you will need to identify the
carriage belt and encoder strip |
|
|
| Step
16 |
Apply
a small amount of pressure on the right gear side and depress
the spring and roller in which thecarriage belt rides on,
this will allow you to remove the belt. |
|
|
| Step
17 |
A
better view of the belt and roller.. |
|
|
| Step
18 |
With
the right side belt removed you will now be able to remove
the left side with little or no effort.
The
belt will be reinstalled the same way it came off.
|
|
|
| Step
19 |
A
better view of the left side belt removed. |
|
|
| Step
20 |
Remove
the encoder strip, the encoder strip is held in place by
a metal plate that has some flex to it, simply apply a little
inward pressure on the right side that holds the encoder
strip in place.
Note:
The encoder strip can tear very easy DO NOT PULL ON ENCODER
STRIP.
|
|
|
| Step
21 |
When
the left side of the encoder strip is removed, you can now
remove the right side without any problems.
Note:
The encoder strip has a cut out and will require to be re-installed
the same way it was removed fed threough the back of the
carriage assembly.
|
|
|
| Step
22 |
The
encoder strip is a map with hundreds of lines on it, the
encoder strip simply allows the printer to be able to locate
the carriage assembl at any time when printing.
Note:
Cleaning the encoder stripis a good idea use a little soap
and water this works well ink on cleaning ink build up.
Before
continuing be sure the encoder strip and carriage belt is
removed.
|
|
|
| Step
23 |
Identify
the print gap adjustment plate, this plate will need to
be pushed back a little to allow room for the carriage shaft
to pop out of it's socket.
Note:The
carriage shaft will slide out of it's socket when applying
a little pressure to the print gap adjustment plate. You
can remove the the carriage shaft by accessing the left
side this procedure takes alot longer but reduces the risk
of damaging the print gap adjustment plate.
|
|
|
| Step
24 |
With
the carriage assemnbly removed you can identify the carraiage
belt and how it is held in place. |
|
|
| Step
25 |
Looking
at step 24 simply remove the carriage belt.
Note:
when installing the replacement belt re-install it the same
way it was removed
keep the tread of the belt pointing upwards.
|
|
|
| Step
26 |
You
can clean the gearing on the left side if there is any buildup
within the gear
a toothbrush works well for this.
|
|
|
| Step
27 |
When
re-installing the carriage shaft be sure to remove any obstructions
that may be in the way also the print gap adjustment plate
will not need to be adjusted since it had not been moved. |
|
|
| Step
28 |
1)
Re-connect the carriage belt and be sure to start with the
right side and the finish with the left
due to the tension of the idler roller.
2)
The encoder strip will also need to fed through the back
of the carriage assembly start on the right side and finished
on the left step 21 or 22 for reference.
Finish
up by reinstalling the plastic cover plates.
